Kuyichi Sustainability Report 2024
What’s in the report?
This year’s sustainability report once again dives into a wide range of topics, showing how we continue to grow and develop as a brand. Some highlights include:
MENDED repair service
We’ve partnered with MENDED to launch the Kuyichi repair service. Customers can easily book repairs online, send in their worn items, and receive them back within ten days. To thank them for choosing repair, we offer a €10 discount on their next Kuyichi purchase. By repairing these clothes and keeping them in play longer, we help save water, energy, and raw materials.Â
100% post-consumer recycled denim
Together with our fabric partner Bossa, we created our first jeans made from 100% post-consumer recycled denim: the Scott Old-Fashioned Blue. By adjusting spinning techniques, Bossa ensured that the shorter fibres from recycled denim could still produce a durable, high-quality 12.75-ounce fabric. It shows that turning old jeans into new ones is possible!
Life Cycle Assessments by BCome
We worked with BCome to carry out Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for our CORE denim collection. A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) measures the environmental impact of a product based on its materials, production location, and manufacturing processes. Using our data and secondary sources, BCome calculated four indicators: water scarcity, global warming potential, eutrophication, and abiotic depletion. These insights show where we stand and where we can improve.Â
Responsible Contracting Project
With the guidance of the Responsible Contracting Project, we strengthened our Code of Conduct (CoC) and policies. The updated CoC is now a two-way agreement, setting clear expectations for suppliers while defining our own responsibilities. We also reviewed our human rights, sourcing, and gender inclusivity policies to align with legislation and best practices.
‘For Fair Fashion’ research project results
Together with Fair Wear, RVO, and other brands, we launched the ‘For Fair Fashion’ project to improve wages and tackle gender-based violence in Türkiye’s garment industry. Project A ended in 2024 with a research report highlighting key challenges. In project B, we’re testing practical solutions to improve conditions. The project aims to empower women and promote peer learning across the industry.Â
Why we keep writing sustainability reports
Each year, we publish both a social report and a sustainability report, because we believe transparency is incredibly important. Nobody’s perfect, and we’re not pretending to be. But by being open about where we are and where we’re heading, we hold ourselves accountable, learning and improving with every step we take.
-
A sustainability report is a transparent overview of a brand’s environmental impact. It shows how a company takes responsibility for its impact on the planet. This includes everything from materials and production to working conditions and climate goals. For Kuyichi, it’s a way to share honest insights into what we’re doing well, where we can improve, and how we’re working toward a more sustainable fashion industry.
-
A broad range of themes are addressed. Think of topics such as transparency, ethical and fair production, circular and conscious consumption, environmental impact, and collaborations.
-
Kuyichi writes a sustainability report each year to share transparent updates on its environmental and social impact. Kuyichi believes that openness is key to creating real change in the fashion industry. The report highlights our brand’s progress, challenges, and goals toward more ethical production and responsible sourcing, helping to keep Kuyichi accountable and continuously improving.
