Wash & care: How we suggest you do it!
The impact of washing your clothes
To keep your garments looking good and maintain their quality, taking good care of them is key. The best approach is to wash them as little as possible, since washing can lead to colour fading, loss of shape, and weakened fibers. When washing is not done carefully, these effects can even become worse. When it’s time to give them a wash, we’re here to guide you through a few simple steps to make sure you do it the right way!

This is how you should wash your clothes
1. Always check the care label first!
2. Don’t wash too much, instead try to hang out your garments for a next wear
3. When using a washing machine, make sure that you go for a cold, eco-friendly wash cycle with a lower spinning speed
4. Sort clothing items by colour when doing laundry to preserve colours longer. Denim, in particular, may still bleed some colour during the first few washes. For extra protection, you can use colour catcher sheets
5. Turn your jeans inside out to preserve colour and close buttons and zippers to reduce abrasionwheter
6. Do not overload your washing machine. And use the right amount of detergent—preferably a sustainable one—to avoid wash streaks or residue.
7. Never use fabric softener. This weakens the fibres and accelerates the process of tearing
8. It’s always better to opt for a hand wash. This will treat your garments delicately but also save water
9. Let your garments air dry, but keep them out of the sun
10. Choose steaming over ironing. Or skip it altogether.
And remember, washing less is better for your clothes and the planet. Check out our full Care Guide for more tips and specifications on keeping them in great shape.
Repairing is caringÂ
If your clothes get damaged, whether it's a small tear from a bike ride or a hole courtesy of a moth, don’t wait to repair them. It’s easier to fix small issues before they get worse. Ignoring small rips or tears can lead to more damage and could make the item unwearable. Try to mend it yourself or find a good tailor to help extend the life of your favourite items. By taking care of repairs early, you can extend the life of your clothes and avoid the need for replacements. Don’t know how to sew? No problem! Washing at 30°C or below saves energy and reduces environmental impact. It also helps your clothes last longer and retain their shape and colour.
-
Use an ecological detergent without microplastics, phosphates or aggressive chemicals. Preferably choose a certified brand such as Ecover or Seepje.
-
We recommend skipping the iron if you can. Heat can speed up wear and tear. Prefer to iron? Use a low setting, iron inside out, and always check the care label first.
